"The legislative equivalent of trying to rid a house of termites by burning it to the ground." -- That's what the National Taxpayers Union says about the INDUCE Act, the copyright legislation proposed by Sen. Hatch (his press release was included in the reading for today's class). This article from today's New York Times reviews the bill, which is under consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee and could be voted on by next week. Many different groups, from the activist Electronic Frontier Foundation to the trade group Consumer Electronics Association are urging members to contact Congress in opposition to the Act.
