The electronic frontier foundation. A non-profit advocacy group of lawyers dedicated to protecting consumer rights and civil liberties with respect to digital media. They have weighed in on the side of legalizing filesharing with some mechanism for compensation, and are working on passing a 'Digital Media Consumers' Rights Act (DMCRA, HR 1201)' to restore rights they feel have been destroyed by the DMCA. They are also involved in protecting privacy compromised by the US PATRIOT Act and preserving blogging rights threatened by copyright infringement.
